Bio
My name is Jonathan Probert. I grew up in Maryland and went to Winston Churchill Highschool in Potomac, MD, where I played JV and varsity baseball, and also joined the National Art Honors Society.
I am currently studying computer science at the University of Maryland. I decided to study computer science because of my love for technology. I love the idea of being able to create my own programs and applications that affect how people live day to day. I made this website as a way to learn and practice new HTML and CSS skills as well as provide a way for people to learn a bit more about me.
I do many different things in my free time. Though I have stopped playing baseball, I still enjoy watching the Washington Nationals play every now and then. When I'm not spending time studying or working on school projects I like to hang out with my friends, whether that be in person or online. When I get the chance I also like to spend some time in my school's art studio creating new ceramic pieces. More recently I have been getting into programming, I enjoy learning each new skill as it could help me in the future.

Projects
School Projects
My large school projects include:
Daily Journal App
Created an android app for users to write, post pictures, and record audio about their day. The app was intended and designed to use as many of the technologies learned in the CMSC436 Handheld Systems class.
Data Science Final Project
Created a tutorial on how to use the tools we learned in class to scrape data, clean the data, explore and visualize it, and finally test it and come to a conclusion. To demonstrate this process we provided versions of what each step would look like in the tutorial. We gathered data about the effects of covid-19 around the world, cleaned it to show the top 50 most populated countries, created graphs to visualize the data, and finally used hypothesis testing to find our conclusions.
Computer Science Department Advising App
Created a self-contained CS department information and advising tablet app meant to replace the current process that is spread between multiple websites. The prototype created shows what it would look like to have degree completion status, class recommendations, full college planning, and semester planning all in one place.
